Happy New Year!

Well, another year has passed
hopes, second chances and the future is vast.
We make goals for the coming year
as the dawn of a new day comes near.

Forget your sorrow, tears and jeers
For tomorrow is a day to cheer
I'm hopeful, happy and glad
and mindful of the days that will be bad.

We grow in the shadows of the past
and bow to the days that are overcast.
But don't you worry your heart, my dear
your friends and families are near
To help us carry our loads
direct us to life's less bumpy roads.

So here's to 2013
and days of good, bad and in between.
I hope you'll have a great year
with good laughs, good books and pints of beer!

I know New Year's resolutions last almost as long as my promise to NOT buy anymore books so I'm not going to have one for 2013. I am however, going to list some books that I'm going to try extra hard to read this year and a couple of goals that I need to set for myself.

  • Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead.
  • Book 12 to 26 of the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon
  • Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma
  • Eon Series by Alison Goodman
  • I need to finish a shit load of series that I've started.
  • I need to buy more e-books than physical copies because I have no room left.
  • NO MORE BOOK REQUEST. For real. Seriously. Stop.
  • I need to read more age-appropriate books. There's a whole world outside of YA, yanno?

  • That's it. Just some realistic goals that I think I can achieve. You'll notice I didn't list a full ban on buying books. That's coz it'll never work for me. I'm not even going to try.

    Reading Challenges:

This is the only challenge I've signed up for 2013 and it's a very conservative 3 books because of the time constraint it allows me to complete it.

How about you? What are your goals this year?

    1. Happy New Year Jooooooy! A blessed year for you and your family~ :)

you definitely need to read more age-appropriate books right? -- as if it's not enough lol

I so want to join the challenge or maybe the group on goodreads but then it says WOMEN ONLY on CAPS on which it may actually scared me at some point! :P

    2. Ohh, I love that the poems are becoming a regular thing! This one was especially lovely:)

I can't wait for you to read Eon so we can compare notes. As for finishing series you've already started, I think we're all pretty much on the same boat there.
Happy new year, darling. May it be everything you hope for and more.

    3. Happy New Year! I would like to start Bloodlines as some point. Vampire Academy too... And for some reason I have been putting off Forbidden. I do own a copy, so it is just a matter of putting my big girl panties on and buying a box of tissues. Good luck to you!

    4. I think those are great goals. Yes, the last 2 years have been filled with a lot of YA, so I'm with you on the age appropriate books.

      Happy New Year, Joy!

    5. Bloodlines!! Love that series. Forbidden scares the crap out of me, but maybe it shouldn't being that I read Captive in the Dark and it's sequel. Those pretty much pushed my hard limits. Whoa! Good luck on your goals, Joy. :)

    7. Happy New Year Joy!!! I'm surprised you haven't read Forbidden. I read it in less than 8 hours 2 years ago and I still think of it. Eon was amazing as well. It took me a little while to get into it but it was worth it. I hope 2013 is good to you and your loved ones xoxo

    8. I love your goals! Like we spoke about, goals seem much more attainable than "resolutions" ..and let's face it, telling a booklover not to buy books is like telling someone to try living, without breathing. And yet, we try lol.

Looking forward to all the reviews on books you are planning to read :)!
